Illinois is No. 1

Let’s hear it for the State of Illinois! Illinois is the No. 1 WORST State in the Union for state deficit.

According to the Illinois Statehouse News “Illinois ended fiscal 2010 as the most broke state in the nation.”

Illinois is bankrupt. Why aren't more people saying so? The State “owed $37.9 billion more than all of its assets combined including cash, investments and property.”

An economist at the University of Illinois Institute of Government and Public Affairs blamed this horrendous condition on a State legislature and governor that, from 2004 to 2007, failed to cut spending or increase state revenues.
